pyrography in the woods
Join Artist Ruth Wheeler for a relaxing creative workshop. Sitting outside and being inspired by the trees, woodland and lake views is the perfect opportunity to create a piece of art on locally milled wood. Ruth will guide you in learning the skill of pyrography, you can bring your own design or use one of Ruth's inspired by the surrounding landscape!
Pyrography means writing with fire and because it is so immediate, you will be able to create one piece or a few smaller pieces in the time available. The workshop is designed to work as a half-day or full-day option and you will be provided with a pyrography machine each and a choice of natural wood.
Pyrography is a wonderfully meditative practice where one needs to slow down and take time, creating drawing like strokes with fire.
Pyrography is really accessible for all ages and abilities. This workshop is designed to suit novices and those experience in Pyrography. If experienced, you are welcome to work on your own projects.
In just half a day (a.m. or p.m. workshop) you will complete a small to medium 2d wall art piece or several smaller items, such as coasters, discs and signs. Come for a whole day and work on a larger more involved piece, where you will be able to incorporate mixed media onto your art!
