Birtley Woodland Art Space is a community arts, crafts and wellbeing space for people to come together and learn from professional instructors passionate about sharing and passing on their knowledge and skills to others.

Pyrography

Join Artist Ruth Wheeler for a relaxing creative workshop. Sitting outside and being inspired by the trees, woodland and lake views is the perfect opportunity to create a piece of art on locally milled wood. Ruth will guide you in learning the skill of pyrography, you can bring your own design or use one of Ruth's inspired by the surrounding landscape!

MEET LORRAINE

Lorraine is an experienced tutor, skilled at making handmade sculptures, decorative art pieces, plant supports and seasonal crafts from wood she coppices and harvests locally. Lorraine combines these skills with her experience and ability to deliver personable, varied and interesting workshops and training courses for all.

Lorraine and Paul offer “Experiences”, including hands on Wood Art, Willow Art, Flora & Fauna identification workshops, Bushcraft and combined media workshops delivered throughout the year through to Hedgelaying, Coppicing and Wattle Hurdle Making training courses, heritage skills undertaken during the autumn and winter months.

MEET RUTH

Ruth has a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art and Philosophy, is an experienced Artist and Sculptor, creating sculptures and teaching to a variety of community groups in Surrey for 25 years. She runs Art and Yoga classes, Creative Wood Carving and Pyrography Workshops and Retreats in Surrey, Cornwall and other UK Venues.

 

Ruth teaches Seasonal Yoga which is designed to align the changing energies of nature and the seasons in a practice that improves physical strength and flexibility, giving balance, harmony and an enhanced sense of well-being. Incorporating essential oils to promote both energy and relaxation.
